Was doing some research about infographics and I stumbled into this interactive infographic-
http://www.derbyllc.com/eastern-tennessee/ (they have a link from washington.edu to this page, as well as links from a lot of design websites)
The homepage is a logistics supply company. The last kind of company you'd expect to see making these.
Other examples-
http://www.derbyllc.com/a-visual-guide-to-the-kentucky-derby/ (They got a link from epicurious.com to this infographic)
http://www.derbyllc.com/logistics-of-the-holiday-season/
http://www.derbyllc.com/how-logistics-helped-gain-americas-freedom/#.VkFD5LerSUk
This is really interesting stuff. Tons of white hat links through these outreach methods.
With a really solid outreach campaign I think these guys could get a ton more links. But this is definitely very interesting stuff. Shows you to you can create really great content around stuff that's only vaguely related to your website, and still use that to funnel authority to your website.
