I thought it'd be fun to share pieces of web design that we come a cross in our day to day lives, the ones that make us stop for a second and think, so that any of us can return to this thread in the future and take inspiration before we build our next site.

Today this struck me:

What caught my eye most was how the logo sticks above the "Trending Now" middle portion, only to have it's symmetry balanced by the social signal icons and the "new articles" box on the right. I also appreciate the cram-packed category navigation with their expandable mega-menus.

I really like these 2 sites. Probably my favorite right now. These are the sites that set the standard for me

Their mobile site is even better.

and ofcourse wired.com

Saw this again today:

I'm not sure what it is, but I really like the design of this site. The flat aesthetic mixed with large font sizes and the lighter-darker-grays instead of blacks, etc. In my opinion, this site nailed it above the fold.

Just saw a header I thought was top of the line for mocking sleekness & luxury:

For political sites, both Daily Wire and Red State have nice, clean, minimalist designs:

I love Red State's big, bold, elegant, italicized header font so much that I've copied it for my own site.
