BuzzSumo's $299 Plan for Journalist Outreach

Has anyone tried BuzzSumo's $299 plan for contacting Journalists? How is it? How does it compare to alternatives? $299 a month is a lot but that's still cheaper than other options, especially those that only offer annual subscriptions.

For those not in the know, Google wants good, high quality backlinks and a lot of webmasters are doing good, old fashion content marketing campaigns with outreach to get high quality links.

I will save you $299/month. Here is how you find journalists.

If you want to find journalists for recent news topics, type that topic in Google News. Then view the results. Put the URLs in a xlsx and have a VA look up the author's name on the article; check the author's bio on the site; check if they have a Twitter; check if their personal site, twitter, or newspaper bio contains their email, and place their Twitter and Email on the spreadsheet. You can contact them via Twitter DM or email.

If you want to find journalists for a site for a topic, google site:domain.com "topic". You need to compile a list of newspapers and media sites to target. You can find lists of newspapers for a geography with Google.
