GA4 Analytics and BigQuery

I thought I'd tell you about GA4, BigQuery and Jitsu.

And how I use them.

If you didn't know, GA4 can be connected to Google BigQuery for free. You don't get charged to load the data or to store the data.

You do get charged for querying it, but there is a generous free allowance.

If you make up any extra tables then you do get charged for the storage, there's a not so generous free limit.

With this data you can see every event that GA4 sends from your website. Plus a few you didn't know they were sending.

If you know SQL you can find out just about anything concerning site activity.

I also use "Jitsu", which is an open source segment style setup that can send events from you website into BigQuery without using GA4.

Jitsu will also pull data from Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc and push them into BigQuery.

So you can combine them all using SQL.

I mainly use this data to feed my server side testing setup and driving a few dashboards.
