I missed an expired domain in auction... what happens next?

I forgot to bid on a domain that I was interested in on a Godaddy auction. No one bid or purchased and its no longer on Godaddy auctions. The domain no longer has a Godaddy landing page either. However, it still isn't available to register on any domain website. Whats the process for dropping a domain? How long does one usually have to wait before it can be registered again?

Have you checked other sites like Snapnames.com, Enom.com, and Pool.com to confirm that it's not available?
