I am in the process of building an IOS and Android App for my business. I am pretty confident when it comes to SEO and more mainstream marketing for websites and businesses in general, however Apps are pretty new to me and this will be my first launch and I really want to get it right.

Does anyone have any good guidance on how to get maximum lift-off when you publish an app?

Any tricks, ideas or essentials would be very welcome at this point!

Many thanks

Stephen

The app will contain details about a specific kind of entertainment venues and have customer reviews, a little like tripadvisor but for a very specific niche. It will be free to download.

I do intend to spend some money, probably on Facebook to promote it.

Thanks for the link, checking it out now!

What's your plan for monetization? Is there a website behind it or is it a stand-alone app?

In that case, make sure you use App Indexing https://developers.google.com/app-indexing/ and also set up e-commerce tracking in Analytics for the app so you can track app revenue versus website revenue. You'll likely find that app users buy more often and/or have higher order values, at which point you'd want to get as many people on the app as possible + do retargeting to get as many inactive app users to become active again.

I recently helped a client who had about 30k active app users a month, while the # of app installs was 750k+. Meanwhile, app users bought more often than site users. In other words: a reactivation campaign for the 700k+ inactive app users could make them tons of money. Instead, they were arguing about which email template to use...
