Multilanguage site?

I have just started the long and arduous way of setting up a plan for building what I call a 'destination digital marketing' site which will also contain affiliate matketing products and one of the requirements will be that it has to be multilingual (I will start with French and English). Is there anybody out there who can give me some solid advise or who has experience with this? It will be built in WP, probably using GeneratePress and maybe Woocommerce for sales of other products (as I said: still very early stages ).

Generate press is a great start. Throw in polylang for multilingual,and elementor for page layout, and you have a solid base.

Add wpfastestcache for full page caching, and be careful with your image sizes, and you can get sub second loading times to boot.
