It reads like this:

Google has detected structured markup on some of your pages that we believe violates our structured data guidelines. Because incorrect information lowers the quality of search results for users, rich snippets will not appear in Google Search results for pages with incorrect structured data markup. This manual spam action has been applied to ______.com. We suggest you update the incorrect structured data and file a reconsideration request once you have fixed your site. After we determine that you have complied with our guidelines, we will remove this manual action.
A ton of people got hit with this recently due to using (surprise!) poorly coded Wordpress plugins, largely related to the recipe niche. But beyond that, it extends to people abusing the star ratings as well.

It always falls back to two things with Google:
  • Using something technically right
  • Using something ethically right
It's hard to tell the difference when you're a robot. Civilian casualties are a part of digital war.
