Coming from a non-Pinterest friendly niche, I'm pretty curious about how to use it as a starting traffic source.

Can anyone recommend a good starting guide to Pinterest?

If i were you i would find some niches on pinterest that might compliment yours. Even if you think your niche isn't popular other niches might make yours stand out. Try liking niches that are just the opposite of yours you might just be surprised at the people who comment on yoru niche.
