Stats on BIG IMAGE sites

I wonder how much of this is the current internet culture and trends, and I also wonder when it'll shift to the next phase of design.

I like how this trend pushed forth and continued DESPITE Google's insistence on having "content" above the fold and not a giant splash hero image. That's how Google SHOULD function. It should seek to understand us, not control the ebb and flow of design and preference.
