Taylor Swift's camp have filed 9 trademarks for the word "Swifties" for everything from musical instruments, jewelry, stationary supplies, live concert streaming, and computer software for mobile devices (A Swift-branded Tidal or Spotify, maybe?) They have all of their bases covered here, except one...

Which takes us all the way to Pakistan...
These trademark filings probabally came as a surprise to one domain investor named Abdul Basit, who just so happens to own SWIFTIES.com. Or maybe he saw it coming.

Looking over his blog, he has some really impressive sales under his belt, taking initial offers of 1-2k on various domains and negotiating up to 10k, 20k, on a handful of occasions.

After browsing some of his sales, if there's anyone who is going to make Team Swift pay for showing their cards too soon, it's this guy.

He popped into a thread on a domaining forum and simply said "Interesting talk going..." so he's likely in touch with Taylor's team already, who are probabally realizing how costly this oversight could be.

Nice share!

It's a really good example of the disconnect between traditional (offline) businesses and the intricacies of online business.

On the other hand, the difference between picking up a domain for 5 figures or 6 figures is probably somewhat insignificant to Swifty.

She has a net worth of $250m+, and the roi on this domain purchase will probably be huge whether it's for 5 or 6 figures.

I bet that domainer is going a little dance right now though
