Uber CEO Arguing with Driver

"Good luck" is right. The reality is Uber has ordered a fleet of driver-less cars. If you are an Uber driver what do you really think is about to happen to your job?
But 2021 is NOT D-Day, Tesla has been at the forefront and has full control of a vehicle at every level, they are just gradually making the updates so you can go "longer and longer" without touching the steering wheel, etc. The reality is 4 years is an eternity in technology, so if you are an Uber driver you have to see the cliff coming up ahead. It's not some conspiracy theories or anything - it's clear as day, Uber OR a competitor will be completely driver-less within 5 years. How long it take people to get comfortable with driver-less cars will make an impact, but it's happening. The driver-less S-Class Benz is already here:

So wasting time talking about "fares dropping" is pointless, you aren't going to have jobs in less than a decade - as an Uber driver you have to start making the shift NOW towards a new trajectory, otherwise you'll get swept away when the next wave of change happens. You should be able to see that it's clear as day what's about to happen - It's in front of your eyes.
Uber’s Pittsburgh fleet, which will be supervised by humans in the driver’s seat for the time being, consists of specially modified Volvo XC90 sport-utility vehicles outfitted with dozens of sensors that use cameras, lasers, radar, and GPS receivers. Volvo Cars has so far delivered a handful of vehicles out of a total of 100 due by the end of the year. The two companies signed a pact earlier this year to spend $300 million to develop a fully autonomous car that will be ready for the road by 2021.

While I don't sympathize with THAT driver's attitude...
I still don't get how people think becoming an uber driver is anything remotely resembling a good idea.
Uber just unloads all of the responsibility, liability, risk, investments to you, yet you have to drive on their conditions, while they keep part of the revenue (not profit, revenue).
There is a similar thing with hair cutters in some countries. As a barber, you have to rent the seat in the salon, are a self-employed contractor, yet you have to cut for their rates. Good luck.
To translate it for this forum:
Earn money with Adsense, but you only get to build homepages on Google servers, on domain names registered with Google, while paying for both - to Google.

Nice example. In Australia, for some reason they're pushing young people to become personal trainers. Same deal, you get to PT in a gym, but have to pay the gym a shedload of money to do so. Baffles me why people think this is a good idea

One where loyaly to your employees means nothing. They are all peasants that can easily be replaced.

One where employees constantly complain about being entitled to stay comfortable. Anyone who disagrees will feel the wrath of customers and staff who whine non-stop.
and...
One where arguments and debates are seen as things only the vioilent and vilians do. Every word has the power to trigger someone into full blown panic.
and...
One where everyone has to get attention. They must feel power over you. They will use any ammo to get sympathy, including video, in which you're being recorded everywhere these days.

We're right in the middle of the biggest societal change since the industrialization.
It's not going to be pretty.
Most agents are using methods and reasoning of a bygone era which simply won't do in the new coming high tech era. New philosophy, new morality, new political schisms will happen.
It's a revolution and people don't seem to understand the magnitude. How do you think a feudal serf farmer felt upon entering industrialized London for the first time?
We need Smith, Marx, Nietzche of this era, they're not here yet. We're lagging behind the technology in formulating coherent moral visions of this age, just like how Marx and Smith lagged behind their tech revolution.
It's a time of great societal upheaval, a transitory period, of which we see the first reactions in the form of Trumpism and the like.
You're not going to have these super rich dorks make all the money while the peasents grovel. Forget about it. Off with the heads is more likely than that.
In any case, we're all playing in the dark here, in 10-20 years we might understand what's going on and what the high tech world means for humans, in the meantime strap down for a bumpy ride.
