Y'know, this reminds me of something every dipshit whose ever been on reddit once told me, which is that you've got to invest in the things that come in between yourself and the floor, and frankly, what comes more in between yourself and the floor than your socks?

In Daniel's mecca and future homeland, I know it's customary to wear shoes indoors, but in the North, we typically go raw sock.

It's a gift and a curse, but nothing says "poverty" more than wearing a pair of socks more than once. Even the most suburban granola hippies, the types you'll see rinsing out their condoms to reuse because they're so environmentally conscious/challenged, even they wouldn't dream of wearing a pair of socks more than once.

So, start with a pair around $20-$30 if you're a high value male. If you can't afford new ones everyday, work your way down to Fruit of the Loom or those Puma socks from Costco because I'd rather be seen wearing those than wearing the same pair more than once. As you start to take better care of yourself, you'll start getting more opportunities in life, and soon you'll be able to cop $50 pairs and not even have to worry about returning them.

I guess you could try donating your worn socks too, but I think it's pretty insulting to expect somebody to want to wear a sock that's been worn + washed. A sock should never, ever go into a laundry machine. Most clothing should be discarded instead of washed, but you boys aren't ready for that yet.

These undershirts keep you cool in warm climates. The problem with Fruit of Loom and regular is the cotton is just, meh. Once you put on a performance undershirt, you'll instantly feel the difference. And since the undershirt is the primary thing touching your body it's quality matter.

Also another thing I learned from a criminal minded individual was to keep an extra set of clothes in the trunk of your car. "You never know when you need to change outfits." That includes shoes, so I assumed he had black high-top Air Force ones.

In all seriousness, there's some really solid, basic fashion advice in this thread for anyone who needs help putting together a half-decent outfit on a budget, so don't let the memers dissuade you. It's important to get the day 1 stuff down before trying to get too creative or unique or you'll just go off the rails, you need to have that foundation and to really understand why things work or don't work, and there's definitely some gems in here, so credit where credit is due.

My biggest tidbit would be to find a good tailor locally and never let them out of your sight. A $30 shirt from Walmart that you spend $120 getting tailored to fit perfectly is going to look better than a $150 shirt off the rack.
 
I was gonna troll all of you when I first started to read this thread, bc that's what I do when I get bored. Yeah I know... it is what it is.

However, I started to feel sad for most of you and decided to just keep my mouth shut.

If you guys are this uncomfortable with other people leveling up their dress, hmmm. Not a single person is here forcing you guys to dress up, so... why so much insecurity when OTHERS level up? "Man, what did he do to make them nigga that mad?"

That's physical and depends on your ethnicity and culture - and whether you even have hair. If you are balding just be a man and shave it off and stop playing around with fitted hats pretending your testosterone levels aren't as low as they are.

Default advice is dress like the President of your country, unless you are from India or Pakistan where the guys are not in a suit or are women. Before you guys go in on trying to cancel me, Google the "country" + "prime minister", if the Google images don't show the man primarily in suits don't follow them.

Your dress, suit, and physical presence is your armor against the world.

I agree that presentation and first impressions are nearly everything. If you want audience with the king, you show your best, whatever that may be. If you want to disarm people you mirror them.

But most importantly, it feels good to look good. That extra boost in confidence cascades into all areas of life and performance.

The function of clothes, accessories, and jewelry isn’t to keep us from being naked, or to tell time. A $5 watch tells accurate time. A nice watch makes a statement about you.

“This guy succeeds. He makes money. He cares about himself. He respects me enough to dress nicely. He’s confident. He has value. He’s not a loser. He’s someone I should be around. He’s someone I can trust to invest money into.”

At the same time, you’ve got Warren Buffet driving the proverbial clunker. It’s up to you to know if a $10,000 watch is worth it or does the $200 one suffice. It’s also up to us to know where the line between dressing yourself up for you is and keeping up with the kardashians is. That line is further out when you’re talking about big money.

Playing the game is smart. Networking is critical. Dress accordingly at the right places for the right seasons for the right people for the right formality.

I put on decent clothes before I sit at the desk in my own home because it puts me in the right mind state. I take it seriously. I’ve worked from home for like 13 years and I’ve never once worked in my undies or jammies. Dressing up is as much of a “costume” as is dressing down. It’s all comfortable.

Clothing is a tool like any other. Choose the right tool for the job and everything goes a lot smoother, externally and internally.

Who here is insecure? Seems to me everyone is having a fun time. Just because other people don't have the same consumer spending habits or aren't as superficial as you doesn't mean they are "insecure". Look at Jesus, the man wore a crappy tunic and has more books written about him than anyone else! :tongue:
 
When I sold my first site, I went nuts buying expensive clothes.

I bought $200 sneakers, a $800 merino wool cardigan and a $600 coat, mostly just wear long sleeve black t-shirts now.

I will say this, if you're a larger guy, it does help a lot to dress snappier, people are less intimidated. When I was wearing said ensemble from above, some kids thought I was plain clothes police lol.

I am looking for a high collar classic spring coat, any suggestions?

For shoes, I personally wear brown loafers with like more grip and stuff since I live in a place where it snows a lot, slippery sidewalks. My last pair lasted me 5 years or more I think. I wore them to the gym and casually as well. They only cost like 100$ or something. (For 5 years that's a pretty good deal tbh and I used these for everything.)

I honestly think looks are super important, most dudes don't even apply moisturizer. FYI, you will look like shit when you get older if you don't moisturize. I have personally noticed that people treat you VERY VERY differently if you look better. People get positive impressions about you if you look good, have you are seen as more competent, you get away with much more, you have a higher chance of getting a job, women, not getting a ticket, people are more likely to give you money if you're begging if you look good and more likely to get better connections. I remember the story of 2 guys literally robbing a TV out of a store since they were dressed like construction workers or something I forgot the actual story. So people trust your uniform.

But I really don't agree with the fact that you have to wear a "suit" all the time.

You also don't have to constantly wear only dark colors. You can honestly get great clothing for a super cheap price if you know where to shop. Look at the price of these charlestyrwhitt.com shirts, I just checked it, they are very plain looking yet they are asking way too much for them. You could find much cheaper and better-looking shirts, you have to go to a mall and try on though I never buy clothing online.

Also for the perfume thing, have people even noticed the smell? I haven't tried expensive cologne but, the cheap stuff I can't smell after some time. But, with a deodorant I legit smell it on myself a lot more even after working out, it seems to last much longer. Although if I had decent money like you guys I'd wanna try out Attar's which is like essential fragrance oils which are said to last much longer than even expensive colognes. They talk about it in this documentary:

Balding doesn't indicate low levels of testosterone, it's based on DHT receptivity and higher levels of androgens. In fact, most dudes who abuse roids end up losing hair, their test levels are through the roof.

My first money from the internet came from running a fashion site.

The first fashion site in its niche/genre

I had a genuine passion for it and made outfits for people, that even stylists of celebs would steal times.

I spent TOO MUCH on clothing; though it was fun and I wouldn't take it back

But in the end..... I got all the way to Hollywood and after i saw the kinds of people I was around, I went in reverse and got away from it all.

Now that I've gotten a little older I want to just have some small things, that say the right things but not be overly conscious. If a person doesn't want to know me, i dont really care, is my typical attitude. But, i do want to attract the right woman.

I have a billionaire buddy from my work efforts. If somebody with less doesn't see my potential or what I can do for them, based on an appearance or thought, its' their loss

That's one of the reasons I love the internet.

No judgement of image and real businessmen and women cut through the bullshit usually and hire talent, based on talent.

Anyhow, went to the Cole Haan store here in Colombia yesterday to investigate if they were true to size.

Cole Haan loafers, drivers, boots, etc are all over the place with size. They are NOT true to size at all. I had a shoe that was ~10 and ~11.5, i put side to side, and they were the same size

The two shoes on the left are 1.5 or 2 sizes different, but have the samelength..

The one on the right i like 1 size smaller than the black boot in the middle

But as for quality.......... the Black Chelsea boot... Looks and feels immaculate. Just did not do well with my feet. Found out my left foot is smaller than my right, because of that boot.

I would present the argument that someone overly obsessed with outward appearance, how people judge them based off their their physical appearance, who feels the need to talk down to "Po Folk", and who consistently calls an online group of internet marketers "insecure" might actually be the individual with a warped sense of self-worth. Hence the cry for attention and child-like reactions to any rebuttal contrary to their own bitter world perspective.

IMO no person should ever be "peasant shamed" for wearing comfortable shit. You can look good cheaply, and you can look bad expensively. The only people going on about "rULeS" in 2022 are geriatrics and "new money" types who think they have to conform to some sacrosanct dress law to fit in.

I knew a guy who lived in a capital city in E.Asia who went barefoot everywhere. Apparently anti-sockers do exist. I don't understand how though, recently tried 100% alpaca and holy moly the luxury..
