Introductions Thread

Seems like there are more of us than I imagined!

Welcome Maria, from another Brit!

Once a site hits the 12-month mark I have found things really get going, be it the age, links and/or trust it has built up. Sounds like you need to keep doing more of the same!

Hi guys! I've just joined the BUSO community and I thought I'd drop by to say a warm "Hi!" to everybody!

I'm currently building an authority site and I'm excited to bounce off ideas with you and share what's working for me and what I'm learning along the way.

Looking forward to interact with you in the Forum and get in-touch!

Have an awesome day, guys!
Eugene

Welcome, Maria. Glad to have another veteran on board!

Agreed. I talked about this here. I've seen it a handful of times now and even posted an example picture:

99% of people get disheartened before that point... huuuuge mistake. As always, the moment you're ready to give up precedes the explosion of results, if only you'll hang in there.

Eugene, Welcome to the club.

How long have you been involved with internet marketing? Do you have any special skills or strengths? How about weaknesses? Any successes or failures before this current authority project?

It seems like I was living under the rock and never heard of BuSo until a few days ago.

I am blown away by the free course and if any of you have not checked it out, it's a must see.

A little bit about myself -

I have been building websites since the 90's and boy have things changed.

But for the most part I was building sites for fun not for money until about 5 years ago when I started making sites for money.

After some initial successes and many many many failures, I do have some successful sites under my belt.

I am here to share my experience and to learn from everyone else.

Welcome, MBS!

After some initial successes and many many many failures, I do have some successful sites under my belt.

That was me. Few wins that I screwed up with penalties. Huge wins that were built on sand. Then I basically started over with zero cashflow a couple years ago. Made a flip in that time to keep me afloat while I grinded with my time to get my authority site rocking. All is well now.

That's key, to not sabotage our efforts, however it happens. The snowball gets huge fast if you let it without causing it to melt.

Do you feel you have any specific strengths or weaknesses when it comes to business in general and online marketing?

I had almost given up on one of the sites that today brings in the most cash. Worked very hard on it for almost a year but it did not make any significant money, let it site by it self for sometime and it just kept on growing.

My main weakness is that I start too many sites without allocating sufficient resources to it. Yet another weakness is paralysis by analysis.

In terms of strengths I my strength is my team which I have build over a period of years - so when I need o get something done, it gets done quickly.

That's awesome man, good for you. I'm in the same point, I literally find myself drowning in opportunity and eventually not giving any of my sites the time and attention that they deserve. It's hard to withhold from venturing into new businesses, but this coming year in 2017 my goal is to solely focus on what I have, and not venture off until all of my sites are given the proper TLC they deserve!

To fix this I started deleting random domains from my registrar accounts once a month. If I waited till the renewal I might accidentally or purposely renew the domain in some rare hope I get time. It's easier to just go in and delete during the year way before renewal and let the dead lay dead. Realistically if it was THAT great of an idea I'd be working on it right now.

Its hard but, it gets easier as you get in the habit of letting go, there will always be thousands of potential opportunities but only 24 hours in a day to work on a few worthy causes.

Welcome to resistance.

TOTALLY agree here! Opportunities will always come and go, but if you can't give some opportunities the time of day, you mine as well let it go and revisit it when you do have the proper time and resources to dedicate to it!

Hey Eugene, Nice to meet you, I'm also new to the forum but I'm excited to connect with other like-minded individuals. What kind of site are you building?

Hi everyone,

I'm a writer with several years' experience producing news items, feature articles, interviews, and reviews for a whole range of high-profile publications. It's safe to say that I have an exceptional command of the English language, and it allowed me to do well for myself while I was studying and working as an adjunct university lecturer.

I'm now starting to take myself seriously as a freelancer. I have some copywriting experience, turning out blog posts, and marketing material.

I would also be very happy to receive any words of wisdom, advice, or help any of you could offer about how to get into the game and sustain myself while I'm in it.

Thanks!

Hey Deluge, Good for you!

I would recommend signing up to all of the freelance content writing sites out there, such as upwork, freelancer, and a handful of other smaller ones.

Create a thorough and detailed profile, provide samples of your work, your resume, etc, etc, and try to get as many gigs as you can to build up a legitimate profile. It will certainly take time, but what worth while doesn't?

Let me know if you have any other questions!

It's a B2B site, intended to become THE authority site in the niche, to be later-on monetized with affiliate offers. I've just started it, preparing to go full speed in the new year

What are your plans?

Eugene, Welcome to the club.

How long have you been involved with internet marketing? Do you have any special skills or strengths? How about weaknesses? Any successes or failures before this current authority project?

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've been at this for several years....I can produce high quality content and I'm quite good with outreach. Had some success with AdSense and Amazon reviews sites before . Then lost focus and jumped from project to project....

Now I plan to FOCUS and build ONE strong authority site

I just stumbled across this forum and was actually looking for a place to discuss SEO and site building with like minds, so thought I'd reach out and say hello! Very much looking forward to becoming an active member here.

I've been in internet marketing for nearly 2 years now (though admittedly its only been a part time hobby). I have 1 niche site that is successful, 1 that I'm working on building up and 1 failure.

It has also recently gotten to the point where I'm able to do it full time so let the scaling begin!

Hope you all have a great holiday period and a roaring start to 2017!

Hi, welcome to the forum. Do you have an idea why the one site failed and the other one was successful? Are you planning on building a portfolio and holding or flipping the sites in the future?

Hi Daedalus, thanks.

As far as I can tell the niche was too saturated to begin with. It was my second site and I was still learning.

My current 2 niches are based around products that I initially didn't know existed until I stumbled across them (I think this is a good thing as it means other site builders are less likely to know about them too) but that still have a substantially large customer base. I guess the drive to hustle harder than the competition means success in a mid-range but relatively unknown niche like that.

That's a good question actually. I think it depends on whether I stumble across new niches that I think I could compete in.

Hi!

I'm new here so a little about myself first.

I'm from Argentina and I've been playing online poker for a living for the past 3 years until January of 2016.
That is when I discovered this whole business and I really love it, much more than poker actually.

I started an affiliate site that is now hitting good marks (at least for me). December has been great but I guess the holidays have a lot to do with that.

The site is almost 50 pages and now I want to make it bigger and bigger. I also want to start 2 o 3 new affiliate sites in the next year

Thanks for reading!

Hi guys, just stumbled across this forum. Looks to be a great resource. Have been in the SEO and affiliate game for a few years now so hope to both learn and share.

Rodrigo, welcome aboard. Did you see the movie Runner Runner? It was about online gambling and affiliate marketing. You'd enjoy it, I'm sure.

This current successful project of yours... is it "white hat" and clean enough in a way that you can rely on it for long term earnings? Or are you more into the spammy side of things?

Seems like you could do well with some kind of e-book or video course teaching people who want to play poker online how to do it well. I know the casino niches are pretty stiff in terms of spammers and sabotage though. Could be something to make, put on Clickbank, and let other people promote.

Welcome mate, another fellow aussie here (Melbourne).
Looking forward to seeing you around, cheers

Thanks!

No, I didn't saw it, I should check it out. I think the most popular movie in the community was Rounders!

It's not white hat but not spammy either. Mostly PBNs but good ones. Some of my own and others from good vendors.

My idea is to "clean" it with white hat outreach links and that kind of stuff. And get rid of the PBNs completely at some point

I didn't look at the gambling niche because I thought it was really competitive and maybe saturated. But I should give it a try . Although making videos or writing is more difficult to me because (as you may see) English is not my native language.

Another Aussie (Armidale - 6 hrs north of Sydney). Family in Sydney so I'm down often. Welcome to BuSo

I have owned way too many domains (150+) that I have done nothing with, but am still able to convince myself I might use them someday  only about 10 domains or so have really turned into long term projects. Something I am working on but there could be worse habits than being a domain hoarder

I would recommend the same. Building up a profile or work and a reputation is probably the best way to go. Finding 1, 2, or 3 repeating clients over time should be able to give you enough work. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome guys, great to be here, I feel like I've found a forum where people are actually getting stuff done. Rare in the internet marketing world!

Hey all,

I stumbled here from some IM blog and thought to just check few threads. Didn't go to sleep as early as I was supposed to...

I've been on the field for around 10 years doing PPC for big and small clients. Now I'm working as an inhouse PPC specialist, so I might be able help the community with my paid traffic expertise.

But the real reason why I registered is that I bought my first very own site a year ago. It's a nice refreshment to get involved in other areas of IM too, but I've got so much to learn!

So I hope I'll get some support, as folks here seem to know what they're doing judging by the bragging thread. :D

Hello everyone! I have been here for a while as a passive viewer of content, but one of my goals for 2017 is to do a better job of connecting with other people in our industry/related industries.

A little about me -
  • I own a digital marketing agency. We have been around for about 6 years. We have grown and have a few employees/contractors.
  • We started as content writers but have expanded over time to web design, PPC, SEO, and inbound marketing.
I hope I will be able to contribute and help especially those of you who are starting out. I have been greatly helped just by lurking here over the past few months, and I am looking forward to taking the next steps. If any of you out there need advice on any of the above or help when starting out, feel free to reach out.
